Sunday Picnic with Delectable Diction

Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

As this upcoming week is an open slot on the Community Calendar, the pod together icebreaker week will be extended (and expanded!) into that time. Suggestions for additional content / activities welcome on this thread.

Speaking of pod together, we're looking for more people to volunteer as beta readers, beta listeners, and cheerleaders to support the folks tackling poetry projects for Pod Together 2013! If you are interested in the challenge but couldn't commit to signing up as a writer or performer this year, acting as a beta or a cheerleader is a great way to still be involved, and can make all the difference for the person(s) you're supporting. If you're interested in doing beta work, but hesitating to put your name in, don't forget that betas themselves can also request cheerleaders - jjhunter, e.g., has already volunteered to cheerlead for the first three betas who request that type of support.

Yesterday's FONSFAQ long and serial poetry is off to a good start, but we'd love to see some prompts & claims related to the 'serial' part of the meme too. Come join in with your questions big and small, and nudge your friends to come play too.

The next community themed week will be Monday, Jul. 15th - Saturday, Jul. 20th, with the theme 'Diction's Dicty Delights'. Signup post will be up soon; in the meantime, all are welcome and encouraged to come share some favorite words & thoughts at the related anon poll hosted by jjhunter.
