Hello!

I'm Georgie and this is my contribution to the Poetree Free Association week:

This image, from the final scene of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince can certainly stand alone, but is often accompanied by text, which I have included--in French and English because I think they are equally beautiful.

["In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars will be laughing when you look at the sky at night..You, only you, will have stars that can laugh!"]
~Antoine de St. Exupery Le Petit Prince

Happy Associating!

Somehow the little prince catches the wind, or maybe dances with it. That sense of stars laughing beauty being reachable/unreachable...

Emily Dickinson
Beauty — be not caused — It Is —
Chase it, and it ceases —
Chase it not, and it abides —

Overtake the Creases

In the Meadow — when the Wind
Runs his fingers thro' it —
Deity will see to it
That You never do it —

And then from there my mind goes to a welcome haiku I wrote for [personal profile] 2corbies that draws on that imagery:
words' whisper wind
creasing meadows, making room--
a bloom of one's own

twinkle, twinkle, little laugh
how I wonder at that sound
up above the world so high
like a princeling in the sky

when the blazing moment's past
when they turn and walk away
then he shows he caught their gaffe
twinkle, twinkle little laugh

Sorry got caught up in studying yesterday and didn't get a chance to respond. Here's the poetry snippet that came immediately to mind when I saw the picture:

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by
