Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

It's been more than a week since I posted these poems, but it's been well more than a week since the last poetree picnic, so I'm going to venture the guess that it's okay to link these:

Domestic Goddess

These are all poems in praise of, or perhaps hymns to, various of my gods: specifically, Hestia, Apollon, Athena, Demeter, and Hestia again, respectively. The links go to my Patreon because I haven't got them posted anywhere else!

This is the perfect place to post these. The Sunday Picnic has become by necessity a more flexible thing, therefore it makes sense for responses to be more flexible as well. :)

Unfortunately, stress has stalled what little creativity I've been able to muster. the last thing I wrote was... on the 9th. Been trying to get back into the groove but, uh yeah.

Lambda Literary announces details of the 2016 Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices. One of the workshops is poetry.

Would anybody be interested in a thing like jjhunter's How Are You? (In Haiku) events except all discussion must happen in couplets? (rhymed, metered, both, or neither) And maybe with topics? Because if anybody at all expresses any interest at all between now and tomorrow morning, I am going to do this thing tomorrow morning.

ETA: People who read me are interested—it is happening! "Two By Two" on alexseanchai Tuesday Oct 27! Topic, if any, TBD.

At this point I don't think I've got anything, but I posted a little poem over at my journal just to test my poetry-writing skills. It's rated NSFW so I won't repost here, but anyone please feel free to go have a look. It's the only poem there at least thus far, and the entry is entitled "A Random Poem for Your Enjoyment." Other than that, life has been keeping me pretty busy as of late but I've spent some time perusing the 2 poetry comms I'm in on Dw and like what I'm seeing.
