[personal profile] jjhunter posting in [community profile] poetree
Previous signup post here; I'll be going through the backlog there before moving onto the volunteers signing up on this post. Guidelines below are loosely modeled after those of the comm [community profile] poetry, though please note that there are several important differences.

What does it mean to be a Poetry Host at POETREE? The weekly Poetry Host is responsible for posting at least three poems spread throughout the week as well as an optional meta post or question for the audience. Poetry Hosts run the gamut from poets (amateur & professional) to poetry enthusiasts, and from community members to guests from outside of Dreamwidth. All are welcome.

  • Leave a comment on this post to sign up to Host a week. If you are commenting anonymously (i.e. not as a signed-in Dreamwidth member or via OpenID), please include your name and a way for me to contact you in the comment.

  • I'll contact you when it's your turn in the rotation (going down the list of who signs up) and ask you if you're able to take the next week. If you are, that week is 'yours', and you'll be the Poetry Host that week. (If it's not a good week, no worries, just say so and I'll move you down the list. Just let me know as soon as possible so that I'll have time to contact the next person.)

  • During your week, you'll post at least three poems (yours, others' with their permission or permissive copyright, or some mix thereof) plus an optional meta post or question for the audience spread out during the week (no more than one every 12 hours or so, so people can have a chance to really engage with the poem or meta when it's posted instead of consuming it quickly and moving on to the next). If offline life interferes and you can't post the full set of poems, it certainly is not the end of the world, but please do think whether you'll be able to reasonably commit to the week when you're asked.

  • In addition, your first post should be an brief introduction post detailing whatever background about yourself you feel is relevant and would like to share as well as a rough overview of what you plan on posting for your week.

  • If you are not a Dreamwidth member, please email me your post content and I will post on your behalf. I can be reached at jjhunter24 at gmail dot com.

  • Weeks will run Monday - Sunday Saturday. [ETA: Sundays are now reserved for the weekly 'Sunday Picnic' post and the 'Climbing the Poet's Tree' challenges.] Expect to be contacted by the Friday before. Once you've finished out your week, feel free to comment again and say you'd like to do it again.

  • Poetry can be of any era, type, language, structure, etc. (If it isn't written in English, we'd like a translation, whether yours or someone else's.) When you're Hosting, your poems do not have to be on a particular theme, but if you'd like to make them themed, please feel free. A good place to start if you're looking for theme ideas is the themed weeks master post.

  • For more information re: formatting your posts and content guidelines, please see the Recommended Posting Format post.

  • If you'd like to host a future week, please comment here! I generally don't take signups for a particular week -- that would get messy fast -- but if your week rolls around and you can't take it due to life explosion, you can postpone. (In that case please do give me a sense of a better week or weeks for you to Host and I'll do my best to accommodate that.)

I think I can manage that. No promises for more a full week like I managed last time I hosted, but I can promise a handful of fun posts for everyone.
