Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

Is anyone else on here participating in NaPoWriMo? Thought it would be cool if we shared a link to each of our NaPos here.

Mine can be viewed here.

I'd totally forgotten about NaPoWriMo. If I have the spoons I might start trying to participate a bit. Thank you for the reminder. This is a wonderful thread to share our NaPos.

I look forward to checking yours out! Ooo, wonder if maybe we should do a week later this month featuring poems people have been writing for this so far...

(My own variation on NaPoWriMo — as mentioned in another comment below — is hosting an April Haikai Fest.)

I am! So far mine are living in dead-tree-space... I have vague notions of posting at least some of them at some point, but haven't yet figured out exactly how I want to go about that.

I wrote a short poem tentatively titled Tuesday.

I'm hosting my usual April Haikai Fest again this year, and have yet to miss a day. All are welcome to drop by and join in to whatever degree they're comfortable with — it's very informal, and a good place to experiment & just have fun with bouncing stanzas off each other. :o)

For tracking purposes, people who would like a fest-specific feed can subscribe via Atom or RSS, or use Dreamwidth's native tag tracking directly on the poetry: april haikai fest 2014 tag.

I have been enjoying it very much, though I haven't had as much time to respond as I would like. Thank you for creating something so awesome.

I really enjoyed how thought provoking this weeks been for me. There were some amazing prompts out of Wednesday's game, and I am still working on possible fills. I had a lot of fun playing with words that day. I loved [personal profile] jjhunter's wonderful exploration of the circadian rhythm and the dissonance created between our "natural time" and "scientific time". [personal profile] kaberett's powerful and potent examination of healing and grief. And [profile] yasabetwordsmith raises questions of human behavior in a time where time is itself a weapon. A rich week of work indeed.

ETA: Thank you to all the wonderful people who took part in Wednesday's game. There is still time to play f you want to take a crack at answering one of the prompts.

There are also a few really good prompt fills already up. So go and enjoy!

[personal profile] marina had a wonderful roundup post the other week I though you all might enjoy: poetry!
I had an evening affair with youtube and some spoken poems, and so I am here to share the very, very best of my findings (I... listened to a lot of poems tonight). I want to stress that I am someone who not only used to have issues with blank verse poetry but also used to be utterly unable to deal with spoken word and thought of spoken word poems as not at all appealing. So, I'm just saying, my life has been vastly improved since these things stopped being true for me, and if you're considering giving these videos a chance, I urge you to do so.
