Last Sunday Picnic of 2013

Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

Oh goodness, it has been a while since I posted a roundup of what I've been writing poetry-wise, hasn't it. 'Far and Fey'

they say your heart went fey to faeryland
where none can touch
or wound it wakeful [...]

came out of a whimsical poetry remix game I hosted back in November; luzula set it to music and made an awesome recording of it that I will never tire of listening to. I'm also quite pleased with my more recent poem 'A Sum of Awe (Your Awesome Is So Awesome That)' that I wrote for kaberett.

I've written a sonnish (like a sonnet, but) on my theme for the year, reclamation, with some thoughts in the comments about how I've (unconsciously!) interacted with structure while writing it.

Special Announcement

Following up on our affiliation with the Pod Together challenge this past summer, poetree is pleased to announced that we will be affiliating with the spinoff Pod Together Lightning challenge (create a transformative work of 100+ words for recording) for its upcoming third round in March.

In the meantime, poetree members are encouraged to consider participating in pt_lightning's second round, whose signups open January 1st.

Comm Announcements

poetree will remain on semi-hiatus through the second week of January, and return with a community themed week (topic TBA) for the third week.

In the meantime, the admins encourage everyone to check out and consider participating in the upcoming round 2 of pt_lightning (see the Special Announcement thread above) — poems need only be 100 words or more in length to be eligible.
