Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

Harvest Gold is a ballad I wrote in September and, because of reasons, have only just posted. There's a spoken-word edition as well.

I rather enjoyed the whole week, despite it being out of season for me. I thought there was a good balance of topics and I was glad to see [personal profile] raze extend it beyond the human. I also appreciated being introduced to Jo Walton's poetry by [personal profile] bookblather and there were some very lovely poems by community members.

My 2013 poetry collection is not ready for publication. The only hold-up at this point is I'm waiting for the Creative Commons people to email me back with whether the solution Smashwords proposed to Smashwords doesn't want Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike language in their ebooks is a solution acceptable to Creative Commons. ARGH FRUSTRATE.

That does sound terribly frustrating.

When I am gone,
Let Shepard decorate my tomb,
And put (if there is room)
Two pictures on the stone:
Piglet from page a hundred and eleven,
And Pooh and Piglet walking (157) . . .
And Peter, thinking that they are my own,
Will welcome me to Heaven.

-A.A. Milne, on Ernest H. Shepard (illustrator of the Winnie the Pooh books)
I found this poem while working in my library and I thought it too lovely not to share.

I had a half-price sale in Fledgling Grace, so you can see the newly posted poems there.
