poetree

You may have noticed some changes recently to

poetree's tagging system. The admins are currently working their way through the community Archive to bring our historical tagging up to date.

Community members and others posting to

poetree are not required to know how to tag their posts appropriately; however, if you're curious, you are welcome and encouraged to browse the following reference guide and leave any feedback in the comments.

!admin, !admin: xxxxx: anything posted by a community admin acting in their capacity as a comm admin (e.g. poetree_admin posts); exception: admin posting content on behalf of another user, such as a host without a Dreamwidth account.
- climbing the poet's tree: xxxxx & Sunday Picnic: related to periodic comm features posted by the admins (Climbing the Poet's Tree: Comm Challenges and the weekly Sunday Picnic respectively).
author: xxxxx: for use whenever a post includes poetry by a particular author; also for use whenever the post's content is written by a particular author; note this means that a meta post by person A analyzing a poem by person B that quotes from the latter's poem should be tagged both author: person A AND author: person B.

content: xxxxxx: ~audio recording, ~meta, ~poem, ~question for discussion, ~roundup of links, ~video, ~visual art etc. are content-type tags.

format: xxxxxx: refers strictly to format of poem(s) in the post. Note that, in regards to format: english translation, theme: translation, and the various language: xxxxx tags:

format: english translation should tag any post containing a poem that is itself a translation into English;

theme: translation should tag any post where the primary theme of the entire post is translation (e.g., lnhammer has done several translation-themed posts using Japanese poetry as examples, but snowynight's posts are generally Chinese poetry-themed posts that happen to include English translations);

the various language: xxxxx tags are new and should be applied as appropriate to posts including content in languages other than English.

intro post: should be fairly self-explanatory - usually the first post of a particular week. Applies to both introductory posts by solo hosts and introduction posts for community themed weeks.

performer: xxxxx: these belong on posts with content: audio recording and any future content: video tags. This is how we distinguish the performer of a piece of content from the author of that content.

translator: xxxxxx: likewise, this is how we tag posts with format: english translation to distinguish the translator from the original author. Note that it is entirely possible that sometimes the author is also the translator; in that case, the same person gets both an author: xxxxx and a translator: xxxxx tag.

theme: xxxxx vs themed week: xxxxx: these sets of tags are related but distinct. themed week: xxxxx tags are meant to apply to the content for one particular themed week and that particular themed week only: they are intended for use on the themed week masterpost to hyperlink each themed week's 'all' (as opposed to just the associated 'Intro'). theme: xxxxx tags are meant so that if someone wants to browse, say, every single post about Chinese poetry that has ever been posted to poetree at once, they can do so. In other words, they are not specific to one week and one week only.

warning: xxxxx: if any part of a post's content is under a cut because it is potentially triggering, the post as whole requires one of these tags.
