This week comm admins [personal profile] alee_grrl and [personal profile] jjhunter have been sharing some of our favorite aspects of [community profile] poetree from its first year. From the underlying art and metaphor of POETREE to the evolution of the Sunday Picnic and Climbing the Poet's Tree Comm Challenges, we've come a long way from the community's origins.

Now it's your turn: what's been memorable for you about [community profile] poetree's first year? How did you first discover the comm, and why did you stay? Do you have any particular favorite posts or weeks that you'd like to share? Let's celebrate [community profile] poetree and the people who make it a community in the comments.

I think I found out about the comm when I started following [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith, to whom I was introduced via Couplets...

The Sunday picnic makes it easy to share. Even if I don't have time/energy to blog about reading or writing (for instance, right now I keep running into W.H. Auden, but other things keep hopping ahead in line, and odds are I'll just slap down some links to get it off my workflowy...), I can peek in with a tidbit and bookmark others'... (though to be honest, the entire comm is in itself a bookmark folder to me, since there are a lot of posts/posters I'd like to revisit later).

Also, I think it was via this comm that I encountered the acronym QUILTBAG. Which I like very much. :-)

I don't even remember how I found this place, heh. Maybe through ysabetwordsmith also? One of my first comments here was on her "A Love Like That" which is still great. http://poetree.dreamwidth.org/56554.html

I never did get around to writing a sacred poem of my own but I appreciated the chance to talk about poetry and sacred traditions. :)

I've been following [community profile] poetree pretty much since it's inception. [personal profile] jjhunter was one of my first friends on dreamwidth, was in fact the person who sent me a dreamwidth invite code when I requested one. We bonded over our love of poetry. So when she sent me an invite to check out the new community I did so. After a while I started becoming more involved in the community. [personal profile] jjhunter asked me if I was willing to be a co-administrator for the community back in February, 2012. I said yes and haven't looked back since. [community profile] poetree is a continuous source of enjoyment in my life and I am happy to be part of the community.

I've been following [community profile] poetree since [personal profile] jjhunter poked me into it; we met I think through haikai?

Anyway, my favorite [community profile] poetree moment has still got to be learning about cowboy poetry, and discussing its origins.

Hmm...

No specific items, but I really like the discussions. It's nice to be able to share poetry and talk about it with other interested folks. Plus I've picked up a few new readers from this comm, which is always welcome.
