alee_grrl: Sculpture made from recycled book pages depicting a tree growing from a book of poetry (poetree)

June 27th marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which sparked the already burgeoning Gay Pride movement into a full fledged national phenomenon. Since I am not physically capable of attending a Pride event this year, I have been celebrating by watching documentaries and movies on the QUILTBAG community. It occurred to me that next week (we currently do not have a scheduled host) might be a great time for a multi-hosted themed week, in particular one celebrating poetry from the QUILTBAG (which though odd sounding to me at first is much easier to remember than the all inclusive variants of LGBT) community. Would folks be interested in such a week?

If you are interested and would like to host a day please respond to this post and tell me which day (Monday through Saturday) would work best for you.

Love this idea, and totally willing to host a day or at least share some poems from QUILTBAG poets in the comments. Let me know when and I'm on it.

I'd be honored - I'll work on conjuring something tonight so I can kick us off bright and early tomorrow :)

I will take Tuesday. I am all over the Pride and I have lots of QUILTBAG characters in my poetry.

I'm definitely interested in seeing what others come up with and participating in the comments, though I'm not confident that I can host. My feelings about my own place(s) on the spectrum/spectra are fairly convoluted, and I don't feel that I'd make a good public speaker on the subject right now; too much baggage.

In addition, I'm unfortunately quite ignorant of what poetry has been published by the QUILTBAG community-- which may be a reason for me not to host, but it's absolutely a good reason to read. :)

FTR, if we don't find someone for Wednesday? I'd be happy to host a second day. I possibly came across a lot of QUITLBAG poetry from the Activist Poetry week and wouldn't mind digging it back up if we lack content that day.
