I am reminded of F. J. Bergmann's anecdote about submitting a parody that (IIRC) placed 2nd in a contest. The judges were divided -- apparently those who recognized the source being parodied thought the poem was hilarious, whereas those who didn't see the connection thought the submission made no damn sense.

Williams (the anthologist) provides no context, alas.
