November commemorates. From rituals of remembrance to those of harvest, we make honored space for death as part and apart from life.

As our dead are especially present this month, our next community themed week focuses on remembrance. In poetry or prose, performance or poetic complement, meta or medium yet unmentioned - let's introduce each other to those we carry with us. Let's make a kind and listening space for the absences that shape (and sometimes shake) us.

I would like to talk about the prose poem The Rainbow Bridge and how this short work about loss & reunion by an unknown author has become widely circulated to the point of being a part of every day pet lover culture and lore in the US and other western nations.

I would take Monday, but I don't really want to introduce anything. So Friday?

I want to talk about Catholic holy cards as funeral icons, I think. Possibly I will throw in some poetry from the Bible, but something about icons, anyway.

I could take Monday's post. I would like to discuss why November a strange, sometimes bittersweet month of celebration and grieving for me.

If no one else signs up for Wednesday, I'll take it. Not 100% sure with what yet, so I'll happily bow out if someone else wants it.

Sure, I'll take it. I'm still not sure what I'm doing but I have an idea.
