Picnic Time

Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

It has indeed been a long week. But it became less trying over the course, I do think. There is more optimism in me now than when this week began.

I have been thinking about my own poetry, and whether or not I should make the poetry-only entries in my journal public. A part of me wants to share my work, because it means little that I write it if it is not shared, but I wonder if that would compromise me if I wished to publish it later. Although, from what I hear from other poets, publishing poetry is a difficult feat, in any case.

Maybe some of our published authors can answer this concern. I've found myself interested in the dilemma as well. Most of my entries are "public" because I have several close friends who follow the journal but do not have dreamwidth accounts. It is a very hard decision to make and there are many factors to consider. I would be interested in hearing others opinions.

I am glad that the week has become less trying over the course and that there is more optimism available to you now.

I started the 100 things blogging challenge this week and am highly enjoying it. Those entries are not behind an access wall, so anyone is welcome to go peruse them. There was also lots of crafting/knitting going on despite the irritating health issues.

P.S. Welcome back, we missed you!

I had a nice, if occasionally difficult week. I wasn't feeling well at all towards the end of last week and that continued through the beginning of this week. However two of my friends (heart-family is probably the most appropriate term really) decided that I shouldn't be by myself and came down to fetch me and bring me up to stay with one or the other of them (I ended up spending several days with both, they live very close to one another) for a little while. Both of these heart-sisters have (or had) Chronic Lyme disease, so they know quite a bit about what I am going through right now. I am home again now, and thankfully feeling a bit better. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to writing soon, and get caught up on some poetree admin stuff. :)

Heart-family is a lovely term, and a beautiful thing to have.

Sorry, all, that I didn't get to post every day for this week. I had two more topics I really wanted to share, but life has been crazy and my health's been in the crapper. I may link to a couple of poems on here later that I didn't get to use this past week.

Today was kinda horrible. One of my employees had a seizure at work, and five of my six other dogs ganged up on the 15yr old dog, who hasn't been doing great, and really beat her up. I'm so on edge right now I can't think straight.

::hugs::

So sorry to hear that you had such an awful day. I hope your employee and your dog are both okay/get better soon.

No worries about not posting every day this week. If you want you can always sign up for another week and expand on the same theme. (When you have time of course.)

Sending you warm thoughts and prayers if you want them.
