Sunday Picnic Thinks It Must Be Sunday Somewhere, Surely

jjhunter

Sunday, every Sunday, let's have a community picnic. It's probably been a long week, and it's lovely to have a few minutes to sit back and relax and enjoy some good conversation in a less formal space. Feel free to bring something for the Picnic Basket - a poem you liked this week, a thought you had or something you experienced, or even something completely unrelated to poetry whatsoever that you just feel like sharing. Just take a moment to say hello, and maybe have a bite to eat; no one is going anywhere fast, and the shade promises some relief from the everyday heat. Let’s get to know each other a bit better, here under the branches of the poet’s tree.

I'm not too late, am I?
As I tend to do, I was being nostalgic over a theme park I went to as a kid. So of course I eventually wrote about it. And here are some images that could be on the creepy side.

It's never too late to respond. :) I enjoyed both the poem and the pictures.

Hello. Hopefully I'm posting in the right place. I just joined this comm a few minutes ago. I have a whole lot of experience reading poetry, but just a little bit of poetry writing experience. So I thought I'd join this comm to see what's up and to eventually post some poetry of my own. I've been on Dreamwidth for almost 2 years and love it.

Hello, from one J.J. to another! You are indeed commenting in the right place: welcome and well come. This community has been on semi-hiatus for a while, but we'll be restarting active posting again soon. (Your comment is reminding me that I should also be thinking about restarting our climbing the poet's tree: comm challenge series too! Thank you for the reminder.) In the meantime: what are some of things you like about poems that have stayed with you? Do you have any favorite poets or types of poetry, or do you tend to read omnivorously?

Yes, I primarily read poetry omnivorously. But I like poets such as Shel Silverstein, A.A. Milne, and I'm a big Dr. Seuss fan. Looking forward to participating in this comm! I also have a friend who recently started his own poetry blog.
