Stitches in Time — Exploring Perceptions of Time through Poetry: Sign-up Post

alee_grrl
This month's community themed week is going to be centered around perceptions of time. A few weeks ago the majority of US states (all except Arizona and Hawaii) shifted forward an hour for Daylight Savings Time. This bi-annual shifting frequently provokes reflection. There are standardized concepts of time, which can be varied by culture and time even in our digitally interconnected age. Then there are personal perceptions of time, both through our internal clocks and rhythms to how we experience individual moments in time. Poetry has long been used to explore these themes and the social and cultural themes that are so heavily entwined with these perceptions. Please comment below if you would like to host a day during this week, and note which day would work best for you.

Not yet -- any day is as good as any other, for me, and I need to ponder a little more.

Very understandable. There is much to ponder here.

Sorry: I've been caught up in a sudden death in the family, including being first-line cleanup -- this has been my first online break all week. Haven't had even a ghost of a chance to think about this. I'll bow out now.

I have a poetic series about time travel, Tripping into the Future. I could write about that for Saturday, April 5.

Huh, how the hell did I manage to miss this when it was first posted?

-- in any case: I am definitely interested but I've got a big-ish deadline on the 7th (with some flexibility, but). Can one of you prod me if I haven't got back to you by the end of the weekend? (I am having Feelings about discussions I've seen about mindfulness around the 'net over the past few weeks; and about moment-by-moment; and about flow. Not sure whether it'll cohere. Should also check I haven't already used the poem that is calling to me as a basis for another post here. ;) )

The poem I was contemplating using is one I've already posted here, but the other appropriate one's just hit me. I think it'd do me good to knock something together for Friday; let's go with "Time Heals All Wounds".
