Related, one of our contests running now is to write a poem based on an existing story - it can show the events of the story from a new POV, or build off it tangentially, or show events caused by the story... anything that spins things onward.

Oh cool! I'm always fascinated by that kind of cross-format pollination - switching from prose to poetry or vice versa can be like switching lenses: a particular format primes you for a particular type of perspective.
