But that's probably too narrow-minded a way of looking at it. I'm sure the experiences of the missionaries and Spanish settlers would make interesting poetry too, especially interwoven with the secretely unfolding plans for the revolt (what was the name of the charismatic vagabond who organized the whole thing?)...
