If you play around with poetry every now and then, or if you wind up with things in your head which ask to be poems, then you are a poet, in my book! :-)

How lovely that your mother kindled your encouragement of poetry. That is awesome. (I remember typing some of my early poems on an ancient typewriter, too.)
